Storm finish Mac’s tournament with tie against Beardy’s Blackhawks

The Grande Peace Ernies Sports Storm finished their Mac’s tournament on Monday with a 3-3 tie against the Beardys Blackhawks.

The Storm jumped on the board first with a goal coming from Codie Saunders at the 13:52 mark.

Two minutes later it would be the Blackhawks responding. Holden Doell would pot the tying goal.

With 26 seconds remaining in the first period, Kaden Reinders would give the Storm back their one-goal lead, making it 2-1 after the first period.

In the second period, the Storm dominated the shot clock, outshooting the Blackhawks 16-8, but the Blackhawks Nathan Flodell would add the only goal of the period to make it 2-2 heading into the third.

The third period would continue to go back and forth. Hudson Foley would add a goal on the power play with 11:52 left to give the Storm their third lead of the game.

As the clock ticked down, the Blackhawks Ethan Bear would score with 5:21 left in the game to once again tie the game.

It would stay that way and would finish 3-3.

Storm goalie McCoy Bidewell would make 34 saves on 37 shots, while the Blackhawks Kris Johnson would stop 36 of 39 shots.

Both teams are now eliminated from the tournament. The Storm finished with a record of 0-2-2 and last place in Pool 5.

They’ll continue their season on Saturday when they travel to Lloydminster.
