NWJHL and NPHL Saturday recap

The Dawson Creek Junior Canucks pulled into sole possession of third place in the NWJHL after a 4-2 win over the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings on Saturday night.

Brandon Rowley scored twice for the Junior Canucks, while Mason Ducharme and Dex Elders added singles.

Darby Berg and Justin Rudyk replied for the Kings.

The win moved Dawson Creek one point ahead of Fairview for third place, after the Flyers fell 3-2 to North Peace.

Keegan Ferguson scored the game winner for the Navigators with 1:54 left in the third.

Robert Lemay and Owen Chamberland also scored for North Peace, while Logan Mazerolle and Dawson Blanchette replied for Fairview.

The other game on Saturday saw Fort St John edge the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers 2-1.

The Grande Prairie Athletics improved to 10-0-1 on the North Peace Hockey League season after a convincing 10-3 win over Falher on Saturday.

Tanner Labbe recorded a hat trick for the A’s, while Lyndin Lewis and Brock Clement each added a pair, with Sam Bosek, Kelvin Neustaeter and Marc-Antoine Viens adding singles.

Jay Anderson with a pair and Hector Lamouche replied for the Pirates.

One other game on Saturday saw Dawson Creek keep pace with the Athletics with a 61 win over Manning.

Brett Norman and Kevin Hope each scored twice for the Canucks, while Wes Shipton and Joey Massingham added singles.

Taylor Paulovich had the lone goal for the Comets, who were out shot 64-25 on the night.
