The Grande Prairie Storm announced Thursday that they have signed Brandon Wheat Kings defenseman Jack Zayat.

Zayat, a Calgary native, appeared in 11 career games for the Wheat Kings and never registered a point.

Prior to his stop in Brandon, he spent time with the Calgary Buffaloes of the Alberta Major Midget Hockey League. He registered 20 points in 31 games on route to winning an AMHL (Alberta Midget Hockey League) championship last season.

Zayat also had a successful experience at the Telus Cup, where he registered five points in seven games. He also was able to get some AJHL experience, appearing in eight games for the Okotoks Oilers last season.

Zayat is expected to join the Storm for their three-game road trip this weekend. They’ll play in Drayton Valley on Friday and Saturday, and finish their road trip on Sunday in Sherwood Park.
