Man in custody after police shooting in Cold Lake

Jan 11, 2020 | 5:30 PM

COLD LAKE, Alta. – RCMP say a 26-year-old man is in police custody after being shot in the leg when officers responded to a break-and-enter in northeastern Alberta.

Police say in a news release that one officer was already in the area when the report about the crime-in-progress at a Cold Lake industrial area came in early Saturday morning.

They say there was a confrontation between the officer and two people in a car, and that “events occurred that led to the officer firing his service pistol.”

Police say the suspects’ vehicle stopped and the RCMP officer, along with an additional officer who arrived at the scene, arrested both occupants of the vehicle who surrendered to police.
