Brett Bamber’s power play goal at the 16:18 mark of the second period stood up as the game winner, as Drayton Valley picked up a 2-1 win over the Grande Prairie Storm on Friday night.
Dexton Mozell had the other goal for the Thunder, who with the win moved three points up on the Storm for fifth place in the AJHL’s North division.
Brody Dale’s 14th goal of the season with 1:05 left in regulation was the only goal for the Storm.
The two teams meet again Saturday night in Drayton Valley, before the Storm wrap up their road trip Sunday afternoon in Sherwood Park.
