No Olympics for Smith, Canadian Women’s Volleyball

Beaverlodge’s Dani Smith and the rest of the Canadian women’s national Volleyball team have come up short in their efforts to earn a berth in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Needing a win to keep their hopes alive at the NORCECA Olympics qualifying tournament, Canada fell 3 games to 1 (13-25, 25-21, 19-25 and 15-25) to host Dominican Republic to fall to 0-2 in the tournament.

Smith saw action in all four games for Canada, recoding one block.

Canada, who is now tied for third in the tournament with Mexico, will play the Mexicans in the final game of the event for both teams on Sunday.
