The Grande Prairie Storm finished their three-game-in-three-day road trip in Sherwood Park on Sunday afternoon, defeating the North Division-leading Crusaders 3-2.

The Cru got off to a hot start in the first with goals from Jacob Kendall and Reid Irwin, who made it 2-0 at the midway mark of the first period.

Austin Schellenberg would get the Storm on the board before the end of the frame, adding a powerplay goal with 1:11 left in the first period to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.

In the second the Storm would start to build momentum. The team outshot Sherwood Park 9-4 in the frame and would draw a couple of penalties sending them to the powerplay.

In practice this week, the Storm had been working on their powerplays and it paid off once again in the second period. Nathan Morgan would add a powerplay goal to tie the game up at 2-2 heading into the third period.

The third period saw Jackson Wozniak score the go-ahead goal 8:39 into the third to give the Storm the 3-2 lead and eventually the victory.

The Storm had previously played back-to-back games against the Drayton Valley Thunder where they lost 2-1 on Friday and 4-3 in the shootout on Saturday.

The team finishes their road trip with a 1-1-1 record and sits sixth in the AJHL north division, two points behind Drayton Valley with a 17-19-4 record.

The Storm return to action on Friday when they host the Camrose Kodiaks.
