Fort St. John Huskies @ Dawson Creek Junior Canucks

The Fort St. John Huskies padded their lead atop the NWJHL standings as they rolled past the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks 9-4.

The first period started off great for the Junior Canucks. Despite giving up the opening goal 5:43 into the first the team scored three unanswered, with two goals coming from the James Lalikeas to make it a 3-1.

However, despite the two-goal lead, the Junior Canucks couldn’t hang on. The Huskies would add two goals in the final five minutes of the opening frame, to tie the game at 3-3 after 20 minutes.

From there, the Huskies would score six unanswered goals in the second and third periods, on way to the big 9-4 victory.

With the win, Fort St. John now holds an 11 point lead over North Peace for first in the league standings with 48 points.

The Huskies next action comes on Saturday, when they play the Fairview Flyers at the North Peace Arena. The Canucks also return to action Saturday, when they travel to Peace River to face the Navigators.
