Fatal collision on Highway 2 near Slave Lake under investigation

RCMP are investigating a serious collision that resulted in the death of one male.

On January 18 at 7:08 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision that happened near the intersection of Highways 2 and 2A.

Smith Fire Department and EMS were also on scene.

A pickup truck and a semi tractor trailer unit collided, and a 59-year-old male, the lone occupant of the pickup truck, was declared deceased.

The 64-year-old driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.

A collision analyst with the RCMP attended and examined the scene. Traffic was then diverted and the collision was cleared shortly after 3:00 a.m. on January 19.

The collision remains under investigation.
