Midget AAA Ernies Sports Storm @ Midget AAA Calgary Flames

The AAA Major Midget Ernies Sports Storm fell 8-3 to the AAA Calgary Flames on Saturday afternoon.

The Flames got off to a hot start just 22 seconds in with a goal from Mathew Mazzochi.

Shortly after the goal, the Storm would tie the game as Codie Saunders would get the team on the board.

That’s as close as they would get though, the Flames would go on to score seven unanswered to pick up the victory.

The team sits second place in the Dodge Division with 33 points, three points up on the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers. They’ll return home next weekend for a two-game homestand.

On Saturday they’ll host the Airdrie Bisons and the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers on Sunday.

Boston Pizza Minor Midget AAA Storm @ Fort Saskatchewan Rangers

On Saturday the Storm traveled to Fort Saskatchewan where they fell 7-4 to the Rangers.

The Rangers kicked off the scoring with a goal from Owen Boucher less than two minutes in to make it 1-0.

Not long after, the Storm would find the score sheet twice in a couple of minutes. Brody West and Tyson Buchan would add the goals making it 2-1 at the halfway mark of the first period.

Shortly after the Storm took lead, the Rangers would tie things up with seven minutes to play in the first. The score remained tied 2-2 heading into the intermission.

The Rangers would go on to score three in the second and two in the third to pick up the win.

Boston Pizza Minor Midget AAA Storm @ Lloydminster Bobcats

The Storm continued their road trip in Lloydminster on Sunday, to take on the AAA Bobcats.

Storm goaltender Connor Strojan was terrific in the game, making 42 saves on the night to help his team get the single point in the tie.

Tyson Buchan, Levi Pratt, and Brody West would add the goals for the Storm.

The Minor Midget Storm will return home next weekend for two games against the KC Centennials. The Storm sit last place in the AMMHL standings with 13 points.

Bantam AAA Golden Arrow Storm @ Southeast Tigers

The Bantam AAA Golden Arrow Storm lost back to back games this weekend to the Southeast Tigers in Medicine Hat and the Lethbridge Golden Hawks.

In the first 25 minutes of the hockey game, the Storm and Tigers would trade goals. Connor Bak and Reis Nyland would add the goals for the Storm.

However, with 13 minutes remaining in the second period, the Tigers would add a goal to take a 3-2 lead, and they wouldn’t look back.

The Southeast Tigers would go onto score two more and pull off the 5-3 victory.

Bantam AAA Golden Arrow Storm @ Lethbridge Golden Hawks

The Golden Arrow Storm fell 2-1 the Lethbridge Golden Hawks on Sunday.

The Hawks opened the scoring with 8:57 left in the period as John Szabo would give the Hawks the 1-0 advantage.

Scoring would stay quiet until the third period, where Devon Barclay would tie the game at 1-1 early in the frame.

The teams would go back and forth trading chances, but with 51 seconds left in the period, Kade Duell would get the go-ahead goal for the Hawks, to help the team steal the extra point from the Storm.

The Bantam AAA Storm haven’t won a game in league play since December 20. They now sit third place in the Charger North Division.

They’ll return home to play at the Coke Centre next week when they host the Southside Athletic Club for two games.

Peace Country PCFAC Midget AAA Storm drop weekend tripleheader in Leduc, Sherwood Park and Calgary

Playing their first stretch of games in 12 days the PCFAC Storm hit the road for a three-game road trip.

On Friday the team fell 4-3 to the North Central impact.

The Storm got off to a 2-1 lead after the first period.

In the second the teams would trade goals. The Impact would score a couple making it 3-2, but shortly after Arilyn Toews would make it a 3-3 tie.

Not long after the Toews goal, the Impact would take the lead with a goal coming from Grace Morton to make it 4-3.

That would prove to be the game-winner, as the third period would stay scoreless.

PCFAC Midget AAA Storm @ Sherwood Park and Calgary

On Saturday and Sunday, the Storm fell 5-1 to both the Sherwood Park Fury and the Calgary Fire Red.

Charlieze Sallis and Christina Friesen were the only goal scorers in the two games for the Storm.

The PCFAC Storm are off until February 8 when they host the St. Albert Sharks in Clairmont.
