Grande Prairie Storm hosting Celebrity Fundraising Dinner

Jan 28, 2020 | 3:52 PM

The Grande Prairie Storm will be hosting their second annual Celebrity Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, March 21.

The dinner brings together the corporate community of Grande Prairie as well as former NHLers Jason Strudwick, Brian McGrattan and Marty McSorley who will tell stories about their careers, answer questions from fans, signing autographs and mingling with the crowd. The event will also be hosted by Darcy Lynch of TSN.

The title for the event this year is Tales from the Penalty Box.

“We’re going with more of a penalty minute, penalty box vibe this year,” said Eric Hein the Business Manager for the Grande Prairie Storm. “This a blue collared town that works hard. I think that we can relate to these speakers, and they have some of the best stories. It will be very entertaining.”

This annual dinner is extremely important to the hockey club. The Storm have one of the biggest budgets in the entire AJHL, due to the amount of travel that the team has to do. Money raised goes towards supporting the team so they can continue to operate.

“This is a massive fundraiser for us. We wouldn’t exist without this fundraiser, so we need all the corporate support in Grande Prairie to come out and enjoy an exciting evening with lots of fun on the table.”

Tables for the event can be purchased as the Grande Prairie Storm website. There are also sponsorship opportunities available, which could include having one of the players sit with you and your guest for dinner or a VIP Meet & Greet.

Single tickets for the event will be available for purchase at a date that has still to be determined.
