Thirty-seven men facing solicitation charges

Jan 29, 2020 | 4:40 PM

Thirty-seven people are facing solicitation charges after an enforcement initiative focused on criminal activities in the Grande Prairie area.

Members of the Grande Prairie RCMP, Crime Reduction Unit, Community Policing Unit and General Duty ran a three-day operation earlier this month to address community concerns regarding sex trade activities in both the City and County of Grande Prairie.

Thirty-seven men between the ages of 19 to 57-years-old have been charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration.

“These operations are intended to reduce the harm in our community, that is directed at some of our most vulnerable persons,” said Superintendent Sean Curry in a media release.

“Police will continue to work with partners such as the PACE Sexual Assault Centre, that offers a first offence alternative measure program called Sex Trade Offender Program (STOP).”
