One person killed in Slave Lake-area crash

Slave Lake RCMP say a Red Earth Creek resident is dead after a crash Thursday afternoon.

Mounties say they got a call around 2 p.m. about a collision between a car and a semi on Highway 88, 47 kilometres north of Slave Lake.

Investigators say the southbound truck slowed down to turn onto a service road and the car hit it from behind.

The 41-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.
