Huskies and Pirates kick off NPHL playoffs with best-of-five preliminary series
The North Peace Hockey League playoffs begin Tuesday night with a best-of-five series that will start in Falher, where the Pirates take on the Grimshaw Huskies to decide who will earn the right to play the league-best Dawson Creek Canucks in the NPHL semifinals.
Grimshaw has been playing some of their best hockey of the season as of late. The Huskies recently beat the Pirates 3-2 on Saturday and have taken some of the top teams like Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek to the brink of upset losses.
Meanwhile, the Pirates haven’t won a game since December 21. However, they nearly beat the top seeded Canucks on January 9 when they fell 6-5 on the road.
Falher claimed the season series between these two teams, winning three of the five games. However, those two Grimshaw wins came in their most recent meetings on January 18 and February 1
