CALGARY- A 33-year-old Calgary man has been charged after police seized nearly $10 million worth of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine during a vehicle stop in southern Alberta last week.

Jacob Cody Neumann has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking following the traffic stop on January 30.

Calgary Police, along with Drumheller RCMP stopped a vehicle near Dorothy, located approximately 35 kilometres southeast of Drumheller, taking Neumann into custody without incident.

A search of the vehicle turned up 49.9 kilograms of cocaine in uncut bricks and 47.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

The cocaine has an estimated street value of $4.69 million, while the methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $4.75 million.

Staff Sgt. Kyle Grant says the seizure was likely one of the biggest for the force in the past 20 years.

The investigation began in November 2019 after Calgary police received information about a residents allegedly involved in transporting drugs across Canada.

The police service’s gang enforcement team began an investigation using a number of covert resources.
