Misery Mountain closed this weekend because of money worries

Feb 7, 2020 | 1:27 PM

Peace River’s Misery Mountain ski hill says it will be closed this weekend because of financial concerns.

A post on the hill’s Facebook page says it sold half the tickets it normally does last weekend because of the weather.

The code of standards for operating ski lifts requires the hill to have 19 staff in place at all times.

All this added up to a net loss, and the weather conditions this weekend look the same, something the post calls another opportunity to run at a loss.

The Board, Peace River Ski Club, and management decided it would be financially irresponsible to open this weekend, adding the decision was not taken lightly.

The post goes on to say people who want to show their support can do so by coming out on weekends they are open.
