RCMP investigating reports of a fight club in Grande Prairie

Feb 8, 2020 | 10:35 AM

Grande Prairie RCMP have been in contact with local school districts, informing them of the possible involvement of students in a reported “fight club” that is allegedly happening in the city.

EverythingGP has obtained a copy of a letter sent home on February 7 by RCMP to the local districts, stating they are investigating reports of a fight club taking place in the evening hours in parking lots across the city.

The letter also asks parents to have a conversation with their children about the dangers of such activities.

There are reports that several students have been injured as a result of these fights, and the letter cautions that students involved in or watching these reported fights could face charges.

Cpl. Candace Hrdlicka with the Grande Prairie RCMP says high school students around 16-18 years old have allegedly been involved in the organized fights.

She further added that the RCMP are following up on unconfirmed reports that these fights are being orchestrated by “young adults”, approximately around the ages of 18-24 years old.

Anybody with information about these incidents should contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5701, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
