GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Minnesota United has loaned Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair to San Antonio FC of the USL Championship for the 2020 season.

“This is a great opportunity for Dayne,” Minnesota coach Adrian Heath said in a statement. “The most important thing for him and his continued development is to get games under his belt.”

“He’ll be working with a great team, a good system with a fantastic staff. We expect big things from Dayne, and this is the right move at the right time.”

San Antonio is coached by Canadian Alen Marcina.

St. Clair, a 22-year-old from Pickering, Ont., was taken seventh overall by Minnesota in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

The six-foot-three 165-pounder played for Minnesota in three international friendlies during 2019, against Hertha Berlin, Aston Villa and CF Pachuca. He made five appearances on loan with Minnesota’s USL affiliate Forward Madison.

St. Clair joined the Loons from the University of Maryland, whom he helped to the 2018 NCAA national championship. He did not allow a goal in the final 500 minutes of the season.
