Family Day events in Grande Prairie, Wembley, Sexsmith and Valleyview

Family Day is coming up this Monday and there’s lots to do in the Peace Region. Here are a few of the events going on in the area.

Grande Prairie:

Nitehawk Adventure Park

Nitehawk Adventure Park and the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group will be hosting Family Day at the hill.

The hill will feature special Family Day pricing:

  • $15 Ski & Snowboard Rentals
  • $99 “Family Day” Package (includes lift tickets & rentals for 2 Adults and up to 4 children)
  • $12/person/2hr Tube Zone Passes (due to limited capacity please reserve your spot online here

Nitehawk is asking those who will be tubing on the hill please arrive 30 minutes before your tubing session time to give enough time to complete waivers and purchase your helmet rental if you don’t have your own.

Free horse and wagon rides will also be provided.

Eastlink Centre

The City of Grande Prairie is inviting members of the community to join in on a Family Day event at the Eastlink Centre and Coca-Cola Centre on Sunday, February 16.

The Eastlink Centre will have free admission from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and have two-hour swimming blocks in the pool.

There will also be a Kid Zone located in the fieldhouse where guests can enjoy games, activities, a photo booth, face painting, crafts and more. There will also be refreshments and snacks provided from New Horizon Co-Op.

The Coca-Cola Centre is also hosting free public skating from 2:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. All skaters under the age of 16 require helmets.

Members of the Grande Prairie Storm are also expected to make an appearance during the day.

Evergreen Park Kids Zone

The Evergreen Park Kids Zone will be offering free Tim Hortons coffee and chocolate, free popcorn and movies, and a discounted admission fee of just $6 for the entire day.

It goes 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Kids Zone is located under the grandstand at Gordon Badger Stadium at JDA Raceway.

Wembley:

Family Day at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum.

From 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. take part in fun activities throughout the museum, see fossils, and dine in their newly re-opened restaurant, Cafe on 43.

Sexsmith:

The Town of Sexsmith will be hosting their Family Day festivities on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

They’ll be offering public skating at the outdoor rink at 101 avenue.

There will a be a bonfire, wagon rides and snow games. People will also be able to try snowshoeing or cross country skiing.

The town is asking that anyone skating, please bring your own skates and dress for the weather.

Hot chocolate, hot dogs & chili will be served while supplies last.

Valleyview:

The Town of Valleyview is hosting their Family Day events at Municipal Campground Trout Pond, located at 5602 50th Street

This free family fun event hosted by the Recreation Department will include horseback rides, bonfire and wiener roast, hot chocolate, games and outdoor skating.

Bring accessories to build a prize-winning Snowman.
