RCMP Crime Reduction Unit lay charges against two local residents

Feb 15, 2020 | 11:39 AM

Charges have been laid against two people after the Grande Prairie RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit stopped what they thought was a stolen vehicle.

At around 7 pm Wednesday night, the CRU spotted a vehicle that matched the description of another vehicle reported stolen from the Beaverlodge area.

After two failed attempts to stop the vehicle in Grande Prairie, police finally apprehended the driver and passenger at a gas station in Clairmont.

Although the vehicle ended up not being the same one that had been reportedly stolen earlier in the Beaverlodge area, charges were laid against both individuals.

36 year old Cody Magnusson of Grande Prairie was charged with flight from police, obstructing a police officer, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and failing to comply with release conditions.

Meanwhile, 19 year old Cassandra Voth of Wembley faces a charge of failing to comply with release conditions, as well as one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Both are slated to appear in court on February 24th.
