Three men facing charges after suspicious vehicle seen in Clairmont

Two Grande Prairie men and one Edmonton man have been charged after a vehicle was seen and occupants searched on February 13.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit was conducting patrols in Clairmont when a suspicious vehicle was seen at the Clairmont Esso Station. The vehicle had a broken side window and the driver door handle was removed.

Police investigated where it was found that the vehicle was not stolen, but the three occupants were found to be in breach of release conditions.

Thirty-seven-year-old Matthew Rideout and 52-year-old James Sentner of Grande Prairie and 49-year-old Alvin Macholz of Edmonton were arrested without incident.

Police searched the three men, and found and seized $3,515, two cell phones and a one ounce bag of crystal methamphetamine from Rideout, a spring loaded knife and cellphone from Macholz and $1,100, seven grams of hard fentanyl powder, a half gram of meth and dime bags for resale and packaging of drugs from Sentner. Several gas cards from different people were also found on Sentner and inside the vehicle.

All three have been charged with two counts of of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime.

Rideout is facing additional charges of eight counts of failure to comply with release conditions and five counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Sentner has also been charged with five counts of failure to comply with release conditions.

Macholz is facing charges of six counts failure to comply with release conditions, five counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Rideout and Macholz have been remanded into custody, while Sentner has been released. All three are to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court of February 19.
