Whitecourt RCMP seek public assistance identifying robbery suspects

Feb 21, 2020 | 11:18 AM

Whitecourt RCMP are investigating a string of offences from early February that eventually led to a robbery, and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

On February 3, 2020, the RCMP received multiple early morning calls relating to theft or attempted thefts of vehicles and ATMs in the Whitecourt area. Officers first responded to a convenience store, where suspects tried to steal an ATM, but were unsuccessful due to security measures.

Later that day, RCMP responded to a robbery at the Eagle River Casino. The two suspects drove their vehicle through he doors of the casino, threatened an employee, and stole an ATM. However, the thieves didn’t get away with any money, as no money was being kept inside the ATM due to the casino’s business practice.

The RCMP believe these and other incidents are connected, and have released surveillance images of the suspects.
