GPAC Major Midget Storm take game one; Bantam boys and girls host playoff games Friday

The Ernie’s Sports Storm took game one of their best-of-five series on Friday, defeating the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers 4-1 at the Coca-Cola Centre.

Dayne Tews kicked off the scoring for the Storm 1:09 into the second period to give them a 1-0 lead. The rest of the second would remain scoreless.

In the third, Jayden Watson would add one early in the third period to make it a 2-0 Storm lead.

Just over two minutes later, Hudson Foley would score to extend the lead to 3-0.

McCoy Kudlik scored the only goal of the game for the Rangers with 11:26 remaining to cut the lead to 3-1, but that’s as close they would get.

Watson added his second of the game with 1:50 remaining in the game to seal the victory for the Storm.

The teams will play game two on Saturday afternoon in Fort Saskatchewan. Game three will go on Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Coke Centre.

Leduc Oil Kings @ Golden Arrow Bantam AAA Storm

Meanwhile, the Golden Arrow Bantam AAA Storm will play a winner-take-all game three tonight against the Leduc Oil Kings at the Coke Centre in their first round AMBHL playoff series.

The Storm won game one on Tuesday night 6-5, but fell to Leduc 24-hours later 5-2 in game two of the series.

It was the Storm’s first loss of the season to the Oil Kings, as the Storm swept the regular season series between the teams.

Puck drop for tonight’s game is 5:00 p.m. The winner will play Lloydminster in the next round.

PCFAC Bonnet’s Bantam Storm begin best-of-three with Edmonton Pandas

The female Bantam Elite Storm will then begin their postseason right after the Bantam boy’s finish up at Weyerhauser Arena, as they host the Edmonton Pandas this weekend for a best-of three.

The ladies are coming off of a 13-12-1 record in the regular season, finishing 10 points better than the Pandas.

Game two will go Saturday at 5:15 p.m. back at the Coke Centre. Game three, if necessary, will go Sunday afternoon at 12:15, again at the Coca-Cola Centre.
