UPDATE (Feb. 29, 3:32 p.m.): Environment Canada has ended the snowfall warning for the Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge and Valleyview areas. The warning has also been lifted for Grande Cache.

Grande Prairie and surrounding area have been placed under a snowfall warning Friday morning by Environment Canada, with 15-20 centimetres expected to fall by Saturday night.

The weather office says that heavy snow is forecasted to begin late this afternoon near the B.C./Alberta border and will then move northeastwards throughout central Alberta Friday night. Snow will continue into Saturday before ending Saturday night.

The warning includes Beaverlodge, Valleyview and the County of Grande Prairie. The warning extends south to Grande Cache and Jasper. That warning is expected to expand as the system continues to develop.
