Two men facing charges after vehicle pursuit near Clairmont

Two men are in custody and facing charges after a vehicle pursuit with the RCMP.

In the early morning of February 28, the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was patrolling in the Clairmont industrial area when they spotted a suspicious vehicle, which was later found to be stolen from Grande Prairie.

Police tried to stop the vehicle, which then rammed the police vehicle and fled the area. Police then followed the suspect vehicle for 11 minutes.

The suspects used bear spray to try and deter police, but the pursuit came to an end at Range 62 and Township Road 730, where the passenger was arrested at the scene, and the driver was arrested after a short foot chase.

Thirty-year-old Spencer Wilson of Valleyview and 19-year-old Andrew Moores of Grande Prairie now face various charges.

Wilson has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Two counts of assault on a police officer with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight while being pursued by police
  • Resist arrest
  • Operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license
  • Operating a motor vehicle without insurance

Moores has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Both Wilson and Moores have been remanded into custody and are to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 2.
