Athletics, Canucks rematch in NPHL final for the second straight season

For the second straight season, the Grande Prairie Athletics and Dawson Creek Canucks meet in the North Peace Hockey League final for a chance to lift the Campbell Cup.

This season, the two teams were once again battling it out for the top two spots in the league.

Dawson Creek finished in first place in the league and won the season series between the two teams 3-2. Their most recent wins against Grande Prairie came back on January 21 and 23.

In the playoffs, the Canucks swept their semifinal series against the Grimshaw Huskies 4-0, outscoring the Huskies 23-4 in the four games.

The Athletics won their semi 4-1 over the Manning Comets, with two of their wins coming in overtime.

The series begins tonight in Dawson Creek at 8:30 p.m. for game one. Game two is at the Coca-Cola Centre Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
