The Beauty of the Peace Art Competition continues this week through the Grant Berg Gallery, in collaboration with Big Country 93.1 FM and Q99.

Gallery owner Grant Berg says the competition did exist in the past, and that its comeback was recent.

“So, this is our third year of the Beauty of the Peace Art competition in its new form, and what it’s designed to do is to give a variety of amateur artists a platform to show their work, and what it does for us at the Gallery, is it lets us see what people are voting for.

“Ultimately, what we do is we bring one artist and bring them into our gallery. We get a lot of people wanting to put their art in, but there’s only so much wall space, so we have an annual competition. So, through the voting, it lets me see what people are inclined to show favour to.”

Submissions for the competition end this Saturday at 5 p.m. and the official entry form can be found here.

The winner will get one limited edition reproduction of their winning work and a one-year gallery representation in Grant Berg Gallery until April 30, 2021.

“It’s a measuring stick that lets artists know where they are, in relation to other developing artists, and then once they have won, again, many of the artists have gone onto successful art careers, and just getting that one extra little thing on their artistic resume can go a long way,” added Berg.

The opening reception for the competition is to be held on March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Grant Berg Gallery.
