Mar 10, 2020 | 10:57 AM

A man from Horse Lake, Alberta, was arrested in Hythe on Monday after RCMP responded to a call of a suspicious person trespassing on private yards.

Beaverlodge RCMP attended the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. They located the suspect, who was known to be wanted on outstanding warrants related to an investigation into a theft from a well site in September.

When officers told the suspect he was under arrest, the male attempted to flee on foot. However, officers were able to catch him, and place him under arrest without incident.

A search of his person resulted in the discovery and seizure of a loaded rifle, and three knives.

Craig Horseman, a 28-year old man from Horse Lake, Alberta, has been charged with:

  • Four Counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Four Counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • One Count of Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • One Count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • One Count of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm

Following a judicial hearing, Horseman was released on numerous conditions, including a curfew. He is due to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 18.
