Calgary Exhibition and Stampede temporarily lays off 80 per cent of staff

The future of this year’s “Greatest Show on Earth” is up in the air following a decision by the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede to temporarily lay off 80 per cent of its staff.

Stampede CEO Warren Connell says the layoffs are a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He says 890 people are affected by the layoffs.

The exhibition holds 1,200 events in addition to the ten day Stampede in July.
