Grande Prairie food bank needing donations during COVID-19 outbreak
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hit Alberta and the Peace Region, the Grande Prairie food bank is in need of donations.
After COVID-19 was announced as a pandemic earlier in the week, store shelves have emptied in the city and donations have dropped at the food bank.
“There’s been less donations in the boxes and the bins since the announcement Monday,” said Peter Kim the Executive Director of the Salvation Army.
The food bank will be getting some much-needed help from the Government of Alberta, as it was announced Tuesday that charities, including food banks, would be getting $60 million in support so they can help those who are most vulnerable during this time.
