Grande Prairie doctors worry people are not following COVID-19 recommendations

Mar 24, 2020 | 1:28 PM

Grande Prairie’s family physicians are asking people to take recommendations to stop the spread of COVID-19 more seriously.

In a post on the Grande Prairie Primary Care Network Facebook page, the doctors say they are worried people here are not following the recommendations from the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

The post adds without following practices like social distancing, things will get worse and the well-being of everyone will be endangered.

They are asking that people stay home whenever possible and anyone with a chronic condition should avoid exposure at every opportunity.

Also, anyone who has travelled should self-isolate and anyone with symptoms should use the self-assessment tool provided by the province or call Health Link at 811. They should not come to clinics or the hospital.

The message goes on to say family physicians are still working at their clinics but are using virtual and/or telephone visits as much as possible.

The doctors add we are all in this together and are asking people to do their part, as physicians will do theirs, to keep everyone safe and healthy.
