Holy Family Catholic Regional Division prohibits use of school playgrounds

Mar 27, 2020 | 10:14 AM

In an effort to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak, the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division in Peace River is barring access to its schools playground equipment.

The HFCRD says this is a precautionary step to decrease the number of people touching hard to clean surfaces, and to discourage the gathering of people of all ages.

Signs will be hung on all equipment that prohibit the use of the playgrounds.

The decision to close playgrounds aligns with the provincial and federal governments’ mandates to limit public gatherings, maintain social distancing, and increase cleaning and hygiene.

Meanwhile, the HFCRD is also asking the public to follow the guidelines and mandates to prevent an outbreak. That includes washing hands regularly, sneezing or coughing into the crook of an elbow, practicing social distancing and maintaining a two-metre gap between each other, and self-isolating for the full 14 days if symptoms of the novel coronavirus become prevalent .
