Aquatera opens Payment Deferral Program amid COVID-19 pandemic

Mar 30, 2020 | 12:44 PM

Aquatera is offering it’s customers some financial relief during the COVID-19 pandemic, through a Payment Deferral Program.

Through this program, Aquatera customers will be able to defer some or all of their account payments between March 30 and June 30, without accumulating any interest or penalties. Unpaid balances from before March 30 can also be deferred.

Aquatera says during this period, no accounts will be shut off.

After June 30, the deferred payments will be dispersed equally over the following six months, staring in July 2020, with no interest.

Chief Executive Officer of Aquatera Utilities, Vaughn Bend, says they are focused on the communities that they serve, and want to do what they can to help minimize the impact felt by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We do provide an essential service, and we felt that at this time of unprecedented conditions, with businesses facing challenges and unfortunately some staff reductions, we thought it was the right time to step up, and try to provide some relief for our customers.”

Bend adds that a good day for any utility company is one where the average person doesn’t have to think or worry about them at all.

“That’s kind of what we’re shooting for, to try to ease customers minds that water is going to continue to flow, or we’re going to continue to manage the waste in the community, and do it safely, and with [the customers at] the top of mind.”

Customers wishing to defer their payments must sign up for Aquatera’s Payment Deferral Program. An online form is available, and customers that are unable to access the form can email paymentplan@aquatera.ca or call 780-538-0340.

Bend adds that they are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation, and that Aquatera will provide any future updates of impacts to customers or communities on their website.
