Central Peace Regional Emergency Management offering program to deliver essentials to those in need during COVID-19 pandemic

Apr 3, 2020 | 5:30 AM

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and the G5 municipalities from the Central Peace Regional Emergency Management (CPERM) have joined to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FCSS’s are now offering a program to provide essentials such as groceries and medications to those who are more at risk, or isolated.

The program is meant for those who do not have access to other supports, unable to get to town or unable to leave their homes due to the province’s isolation requirements.

The areas covered in the program are Birch Hills County, the MD of Spirit River, Town of Spirit River, Saddle Hills County and the Village of Rycroft.

Online request and application forms for the program can be found at the CPERM website, or at their local municipality’s websites. Residents can also call their county offices to get a copy sent through mail.

The CPERM says once the applications and requests are made, a program assessor will call the person back within 24-hours. Once the person is approved, they will be able to order and arrange payments for what they need.

Municipal staff are being used as the delivery personnel, and CPERM says all safety precautions will be in place to protect the residents and the drivers. They say no personnel will enter the client’s homes, and the supplies will be dropped off at the client’s door.
