Winners announced for 3rd Annual Beauty of the Peace Art Competition

The winners of this year’s Beauty of the Peace Art Competition have been decided.

The competition is run through the Grant Berg Gallery, in collaboration with Big Country 93.1 FM and Q99. This is the third year it has run since being brought back.

All entries to the competition were to show subject matter related to the Peace Region.

First place went to Shirley Weiss’s “Spring in the Peace” painting.

“Whispered Songs” by Elizabeth Hutchinson came in second, and “Swamped” by Helen Teichroeb is third.

The voting for the entries was scheduled to end on April 6 with the winners announced on April 9, but voting was cut short due to closures related to COVID-19. The contest opened on March 3 and closed on March 7, 2020.

Weiss will receive a limited edition reproduction of her winning work and a one-year gallery representation in Grant Berg Gallery until April 30, 2021.
