High Prairie RCMP charge man for allegedly shooting at grader operator

A resident of Whitefish River First Nation is facing a litany of charges after he allegedly shot at an individual operating a grader in that community.

High Prairie RCMP were alerted of the incident at around 5:45 p.m. on April 2, where a man was said to have discharged a firearm at the grader operator.

The suspect was soon arrested at his home without incident.

Twenty-seven-year-old Dion Ray Mitchell now faces charges in relation to this incident, including:

  • Aggravated assault (x2)
  • Attempted murder with a firearm
  • Discharge of a firearm with intent
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence

Mitchell was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in High Prairie Provincial Court on April 20.
