Third COVID-19 case confirmed in the County of Grande Prairie

The County of Grande Prairie added one newly confirmed case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, as the province as a whole added 25 for April 7.

The province updated its COVID-19 stats on its aggregate data website in lieu of a press conference with Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw, as Premier Jason Kenney is slated to provide Alberta’s projections for the impacts of COVID-19 in a televised address this evening.

The address is to begin at 6 p.m. on CBC, CTV, CityTV and Global.

The third case to appear in the County of Grande Prairie was the one new case added in the North Zone Tuesday, raising the Zone total to 90 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The province as a whole now has 1,373.

• M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 24 cases (19 active, three recovered, two deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 14 cases (Eight active, five recovered, one death)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Four cases (All recovered)
• Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)

Two more individuals have died from COVID-19, both in the Calgary Zone. Twenty-six people have now died from the disease in Alberta.

Eighty-six more individuals were confirmed to have recovered across Alberta, raising that total to 447 (32.5% of all confirmed cases).

A total of 5,507 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the North Zone, while province-wide 65,265 individuals have received a test for the virus.
