Peace River-area man charged after traffic stop turns up drugs, weapons

A Peace River-area man is facing charges after a traffic stop in Peace River.

On April 4, members of the Peace Regional RCMP were conducting patrols in the north end of the town, when a traffic stop of a passenger vehicle led to a search.

The search turned up suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, Canadian currency and other items used in the sale of illicit drugs.

Weapons were also seized, including pepper spray.

Thirty-year-old Sheldon Ronald Novak was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of break-in instruments.

Novak has been released from custody and is to appear in Peace River Provincial Court on July 20, 2020.
