Fatal pedestrian collision claims life of child
LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Lethbridge police continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision, which happened around 3:30 on Monday (Apr 13) at the intersection of Whoop Up Drive and Aquitania Boulevard West.
An initial investigation by the LPS Traffic Response Unit, revealed a south-bound vehicle on Aquitania Boulevard was making a right turn into the west bound lanes of Whoop Drive, when the vehicle struck two young boys crossing within the crosswalk. The boys were east bound with their father and the vehicle was facing a yield sign.
A nine year old boy sustained minor injuries while the father was not injured. Tragically, a ten year old boy suffered life threatening injuries and later died in hospital.
The motor vehicle collision remains under investigation.
