Overland flooding alert issued for Town of Sexsmith

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership has issued an overland flooding alert for the Town of Sexsmith, saying that flooding is occurring in low lying areas in and around the town at this time.

The flooding is occurring due to the large amount of snow melting in and around the Town. Public Works is on scene working to mitigate the issue.

In an alert sent out through the Alberta Emergency Alert system, GPREP says Public Works or other responding agencies assisting the Town may be entering your yard to assess and mitigate any flooding.

The alert adds that people should avoid rivers, valleys and low lying areas and to take all necessary precautions.
