UPDATE (April 23 at 12:03 p.m.): The City of Grande Prairie is closing off all entrances into Muskoseepi Park while the High Water Level Advisory is in place.

An Alberta Emergency Alert has been sent out due to high water levels in the Bear Creek Reservoir, which is now discharging water at maximum capacity.

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership says in the alert that the trail system in Muskoseepi Park will be under water in some sections. Water levels in the creek are very high and people are asked to avoid the creek and low lying areas.

“There will be rapid currents in the Bear Creek and the area should be avoided,” reads a statement.
