DeBolt firefighters rescue homeowner, cat from flooding home

The DeBolt fire station was able to rescue both a homeowner and a cat from a flooded home Tuesday afternoon.

Station #31 was called out to the residence at around 2:15 p.m. on April 21 to help get a homeowner out of their home safely from rising floodwaters, which had entered the residence.

Regional Deputy Fire Chief Gord Meek says firefighters were able to work through about three feet of water to evacuate the resident and bring them to safety. The firefighters then returned to the home to extract the cat and get it safely into the hands of its owner.

The fire department adds that the homeowner was uninjured and unharmed from the incident.
