Grande Prairie adds one new case of COVID-19, province adds 96

The province has confirmed 96 new cases of COVID-19 for Sunday, May 3, bringing the total to 5,766 confirmed cases.

Three new cases were identified in the North Zone on Sunday, bringing the total in Northern Alberta to 221.

The City of Grande Prairie was identified as one of the locations of a new case, making a total of four in the city, with two active and two recovered.

Two new cases were also added to Mackenzie County, while one more individual in the County of Grande Prairie has recovered.

  • City of Grande Prairie: Four cases (Two active, two recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Five cases (One active, four recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (22 active, 35 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 37 cases (15 active, 19 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (One active, four recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (All recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 25 cases (14 active, 11 recovered)

One additional death has been recorded as of Sunday, bringing the total in the province to 95. The death toll in the North Zone remains at 15.

The number of total recovered cases has increased in Alberta to 2,713 (47% of all cases in Alberta), an increase of 179 from May 2.

Sunday’s case numbers are based off of 3,728 tests being processed at the provincial lab over the last 24 hours.152,123 people have now been tested for COVID-19 in the province as of May 3, and 11,768 tests have been completed in the North Zone.

Currently, there are 90 individuals in hospital with COVID-19 in Alberta, with 19 of those being admitted to intensive care.
