One person has been sent to hospital with burn injuries following a mobile home fire east of Clairmont Tuesday evening.

County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service crews from the Clairmont, Bezanson and Dunes stations, as well as the Wembley Fire Department, responded to the report of a fire along Range Road 50 at around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday evening. Responding crews found the fire spreading from the front porch upon arrival, extending up the side and then venting through the roof.

Crews quickly brought the blaze under control, containing the fire to approximately one half of the home.

Deputy Fire Chief Jason Nesbitt says one of the homes occupants did need medical attention as a result of the fire.

“One member of the household did receive burn injuries to their hands and forearms, while attempting to save property from the fire. The individual was treated by AHS EMS and transported to hospital.”

Smoking material placed near the outside of the mobile home is believed to be the cause of the fire. The County Fire Marshall is continuing to investigate the blaze.
