Warkentin seeking more reasonable provisions in gun ban
Grande Prairie Mackenzie Chris Warkentin describes the federal government’s firearms ban as “unthinkable.”
He says millions of law-abiding firearm owners will become criminals with the stroke of a pen.
“We know that the government is simply taking advantage of a crisis and a tragedy that happened in Nova Scotia to push forward their ideological ideas. There is nothing within the provisions that have been announced that would have stopped the shootings that happened in Nova Scotia. There isn’t a single measure that would have made the difference when it comes to that crisis and that tragedy.”
Warkentin says the Conservatives want to see what he calls “more reasonable provisions.” That would include reconsidering the guns included on the banned list.
