Local hair salon preparing to re-open later this month

May 10, 2020 | 7:00 AM

A local hair salon in Grande Prairie is preparing to re-open this month as part of the province’s recently announced Economic Relaunch Strategy.

Pink Rain Hair Lounge has begun protocols and procedures for their planned soft opening on May 14.

Kristina McNeil, owner, and operator of Pink Rain they have had one customer express that it may be too soon, but overall, they are prepared to re-open.

“I’ve been in the industry for 25 years; we’ve always adhered to the safety and sanitation procedures. I’ve taught high school for four years and the last two years I was there, I taught the cosmetology program, and that’s the first unit that we teach, safety and sanitation.”

She says that customers will also have to wear masks and stay away if they have any symptoms associated with COVID-19, including sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose, or cough.

McNeil says that the safety of both the guests and employees are their top priority.

“We’re scheduling fifteen minute breaks after each client to basically clean everything that has been touched, we sanitize the debit machine and the door handles, if someone uses the washroom we make sure it’s clean before and after, basically anything that gets touched, has to be wiped down.”

McNeil says they will be closed for the May long weekend but will resume operations after.

More information on their procedures and opening times can be found at their website.
