County calling on budding artists to help beautify the Clairmont Adventure Park

May 11, 2020 | 5:49 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is looking to beautify the Clairmont Adventure Park with some locally sourced art by holding the Art for the Park project from May 12 to June 12, 2020.

The project calls on all aspiring artists from ages eight-and-up to submit one or more pieces of art and/or an art concept to display around the fences of the park. All individuals who submit their work will also be entered into a draw for one of four $100 cash prizes.

Submissions will then be selected by a panel of judges from the County, with the chosen pieces being announced this summer.

“Our goal is to enhance the Park as a place for residents to gather,” said Christine Rawlins, Parks and Recreation Manager, in a release. “This project benefits those who participate by sharing something personal and meaningful with their community, and the County by having original art that enhances the Park, making it more inviting.”

Submissions and further entry details can be found here.

The County of Grande Prairie took over operations of the park earlier this year from the Clairmont Agricultural Society. It features a skate park, spray park and outdoor exercise equipment. The park has been open since 2014.

The County says while most of the park’s facilities are closed to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, improvements will take place this summer which include added raised-beds for a community garden and making repairs to the spray park.

The skate park is open to the public at this time, but physical distancing and public health mandates remain in place for all users.
