Province puts money into training program for new food processing workers

May 12, 2020 | 2:20 PM

The province has come up with what it is calling an Agriculture Training Support Program.

A release from the government says this is to help provide training for Alberta people to work in the food supply chain.

That release says the program will cover the cost of training, including buying protective equipment, of up to $2000 per employee and $50,000 per employer.

Five-million dollars has been set aside to help farmers, food processors and other agri-businesses train people for up to 2500 new jobs.

There is another $1-million to help meat processors train new meat cutters.
