Provincial politicians tour Fort Vermilion flood damage

May 12, 2020 | 3:22 PM

The provincial government says it has made $14-million dollars available for emergency payments to people in and near Fort Vermilion who had to leave their homes because of flooding.

The province will also reimburse Mackenzie County for the cost of nearly 500 evacuees staying in hotels in High Level and La Crete.

Another 750 people from the nearby Little Red River Cree Nation had to be taken to tent encampments.

Premier Jason Kenney and some other provincial politicians have had a look at the flood damage in Fort Vermilion.
