No new COVID-19 cases in North Zone Wednesday, Alberta adds 62

Alberta added 62 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, while no new cases were identified in the North Zone.

As of May 13, 1,211 cases of COVID-19 are active in Alberta while 5,076 people have recovered. Two more Albertans have died from the disease, bringing the province’s death toll to 120 as of Wednesday.

As of May 13, 21 cases are active in Northern Alberta, while 191 people have recovered. Fifteen people in the North Zone have died.

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, says a total of 4,076 tests have been processed over the past 24 hours, with 227 of those tests coming from the North Zone. A total of 181,624 Albertans have now been tested for COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

Five people in Northern Alberta are in hospital with COVID-19. Alberta-wide, 70 people are in hospital while 12 have been admitted to intensive care.

Updated case totals in Peace Region municipalities as of May 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: Three cases (All recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: Five cases (One active, four recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Two cases (One active, one recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 67 cases (Three active, 54 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 36 cases (Two active, 32 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (Six recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: One case (Fatal)
  • County of Northern Lights: One case (Recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 32 cases (Nine active, 23 recovered)
